James John “JJ” Fox, 40, of Sparta, Tennessee passed from this life July 11, 2024, at his home.

James was born on Aug. 1, 1983, in Sparta, to Mike Fox and Paula Bohannon Stanfill.

Growing up, Jay was a typical boy who enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeler riding and excelled at playing baseball. Unfortunately, life had a different plan for Jay. In his late teens, the cruel and unforgiving disease of schizophrenia took over. His entire adult life was taken from him by this terrible illness. The tragedy of July 11 was not J.J.  but the terrible disease that tormented his life. Jay is finally free from the torment of his mind and has found the peace he had fought so hard to find.

J.J. was preceded in death by his father, Mike Fox; grandparents, J.C. and Evelyn Nash, Vernon Bohannon; his uncle, Terry Nash; his aunt, Connie Bohannon Blankenship; and nephew, Ryan White.

Surviving family include his mother, Paul Stanfill, of Sparta; stepdad, Craig Stanfill, of Sparta; sister, Chrissy (Mark) White, of Sparta; nephew, Aaron White, of Sparta; grandmother, Ruby Bohannon Maxwell, of Sparta; uncles, Jerry Nash, of Atlanta, Georgia, Zach (Marsha) Bohannon, of Crossville, Mark Blankenship, of Crossville; and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral service was 1 p.m., July 17, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Eastland Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Keller officiated.

Pallbearers were Mark White, Aaron White, Jerry Nash, Zach Bohannon, Wesley Bohannon, and Mark Blankenship.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
