Billy Carl Masters, 81, passed away peacefully, on Sept. 4, 2024, at home, with family by his side.
Billy was born Jan. 10, 1943, in Sparta, and had lived in Shorewood, Illinois, since 1967.
He retired from Ball Glass, in Plainfield, Illinois, in 1996, and Dial Corp., in Montgomery, Illinois, in 2009. Billy loved music, playing many different instruments. He enjoyed sports and especially watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. Billy was known for fixing things around the house and cars. He was a good Christian man and was dedicated to the Lord.
Billy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aubrey; his parents, Grady and Linnie Masters; and one sister, Sue Lohorn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Diana (Elrod) Masters; children, Edward (Heather) Masters, Larry Masters, Michael Masters, Sonya (Steve) DiNardo; grandchildren, Monica, Jennifer, Bryan, Justin, Zulema, Bianca, Leylah, Mikey, Amira, Aaron, Courtney, Anthony, Amanda, Sara; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Masters; and numerous nieces and nephew.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Sept. 13, 2024. at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Bro. Rudy Oaks officiated.
