Marilyn Patricia Adkins Young, 79, of Walling, passed away April 2, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was born Nov. 1, 1945, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Arthur Owen and Hilda Alene Clark Adkins.
She was a former garment factory worker.
In addition to her factory work, she loved to sew and quilt at home. She was an avid gardener, and for years she was well known around the United States for raising Chihuahua puppies. The only thing she loved more than listening to Elvis was being Granny for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Taylor Young, who died August 29, 2019; sister, Judy Clark; and brothers, Leroy, Howard, and Larry Adkins.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Roger Quenton (Lesa) Young, David (Mona) Young, Foster (April) Young; 10 grandchildren, Shane (Tiffany) Young, Joshua Young, Nicholas Young, Ryan (Liza) Young, Jessica (Josh) Attwood, Jeremiah (Kristen) Miller, Hannah (Jordan) Brown, Hallie (Taylor) Parks, Aubrey (Dillon) Hicks, Addison (Dakota) Westmoreland; 10 great-grandchildren, Dominick, Jailyn, Adriana, Tristen, Emory, Presleigh, Eden, Dylan, Melody, Nora, Lillian; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., April 5, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Old Philadelphia Cemetery. Burl Rice and Sam Davis officiated.
Taylor Parks, Dillon Hicks, Brandon Young, Shane Young, Joshua Young, and Nicholas Young served as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
