Leonard Lewis Simmons, 92, of Sparta, passed away March 29, 2025, at home in Sparta, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Sparta, to Powell Louis and Della Mae Baker Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Allen Simmons, Steve Simmons; and granddaughter, Vanessa Edmonds.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Geneva Simmons; son, Richard Simmons; grandchildren, Allen “Shane” Simmons Jr., April Simmons, Lindsey Drew Dunham, Scarlett Dickson, Latoya Simmons, Shana Simmons; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., April 3, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Dewey Young and Bro. Harlan Simmons officiated.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
