Chief Matt McBride, of Central View Volunteer Fire Department-Walling/Quebeck/Mt. Gilead, and Firefighter/AEMT Brent Keenan, a career member at Cookeville Fire Department, attended the recruit firefighter graduation ceremony, on June 29, 2024, for two members of White County’s aforementioned department.

Firefighter/AEMT Jade Callister and FF Sam Grissom completed nearly 400 hours of training as part of the hiring process for their new careers as firefighters with Crossville Fire & Rescue.  The training consisted of basic and advanced firefighting tactics, vehicle extrication, self-contained breathing apparatus confidence courses, survival courses, and many hours of hands-on skills evolutions and scenario-based training.

Grissom and Callister join eight other members of the Central View Volunteer Fire Department who are career firefighters in Sparta, McMinnville, Cookeville, Putnam County, Murfreesboro, and Chattanooga.

“We are excited to be a small part of these two achieving the dream of becoming career firefighters,” Central View Fire Chief Matt McBride said. “We look forward to seeing their skills grow and developing them into the next generation of leaders in the fire service and bringing their training and experience into our communities to train our departments and serve our neighbors.”
